In Haneul Park and Noeul Park and, we can hear croaks of 'Maengkongi (narrow-mouth frog)’ in June. The croaks are almost forgotten in downtown because there are no wetlands. They appeared in the World Cup Park in 2000 and they were selected as flagship species of World Cup Park in 2006 by Seoul City. The name of 'Maengkongi’ comes from the croaks, namely, it is said that one croaks ‘maeng’ and then other croaks ‘kong’ thus we may hear ‘maengkong’. They hibernate form Sep to Mar under the earth and then wake up for a while but sleep again. They croak for mating in Jun, a rainy season.

Remarkable water purification plants such as bulrush, sweetflag, water lily, lotus, etc. were planted on the Nanji Pond. The water comes from Han River and thus fish are accompanied. The purified water flows to the Nanjicheon.
